01Evidence · Audiovisual investigation

Tras la Carne The truth that must be told.

Our audiovisual investigation project. We go where the industry doesn't want you to look and come back with footage that withstands any scrutiny.

What it is

Showing what happens behind the walls.

Advertising shows meadows and calm animals. The real industry happens in closed sheds, slaughter plants and trucks almost nobody sees. Tras la Carne exists to close that gap.

A documentation team records farms, transport and slaughterhouses. With that footage we produce free documentaries and share evidence with journalists, authorities and our own campaigns.

Why we do it

Without evidence, cruelty is just an opinion.

Animal exploitation depends on not being seen. Every year more than 80 billion land animals are killed for food worldwide, and almost nobody has seen how. Honest footage turns an abstract number into someone: an individual with a batch number, confined and transported. That evidence feeds everything else we do.

in public money (CLP), at least, went from Chile's state to the meat and dairy industry, according to six agencies asked through freedom-of-information requests.

How it works

This is how we do it.

  1. 01

    Research

We choose an industry and study how it works, what the rules say and what its advertising shows.

  2. 02

    Record

The team documents on site, with protocols that protect the accuracy and safety of the footage.

  3. 03

    Tell

We produce a documentary with context, sources and testimony, and publish it for free.

  4. 04

    Take it further

We share the evidence with media, authorities and campaigns, and organize screenings followed by conversation.

Its value

The change we seek, and who it serves.

i.

For the animals

Those who live inside the system stop being invisible: their experience enters public debate.

ii.

For people

Direct information to decide what to buy, eat and support, without an advertising filter.

iii.

For the movement

Verifiable material that other organizations, journalists and lawmakers can use.

Journey

What's done and what's next.

  1. Investigation I

Meat industry: what happens in Chile, recorded from the inside.

  2. Investigation II

Poultry industry: the lives of chickens in the production system, from start to finish.

  3. Screenings

Showings at schools, festivals and organizations, followed by conversation.

  4. 2026

The investigation goes underwater: Bajo las jaulas, on salmon farming in southern Chile.
